A Charleston County Sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a family’s dog, claiming that it lunged at him. Other witnesses say that the German Shepherd was barking but was 10 feet away from the officer, and that the dog’s owner had signaled for the officer to wait a minute in his car while she put her dog into the backyard.
A former Laurens County Sheriff’s Department employee is suing Sheriff Ricky Chastain for sexual harrassment, claiming that she was forced out of her job after getting pregnant a second time with Chastain’s child and refusing to have a second abortion. Chastain drove her to the first abortion in a county vehicle, and paid “hush money” to her family.

A Sergeant with the Lee County Sheriff’s Department has been suspended after her marked Lee County cruiser was found outside Disco Mexicali, a nightclub in Greenville, S.C. The Sergeant said she was there looking for her brother whose truck had broken down, but the club manager said that her boyfriend was working at the club and the Greenville County Sheriff’s Deputy who spotted her said that she was dressed to party (paraphrasing).
